The topic becomes magnified tenfold when many of the nurses in your facility are travelers—nurses who, while experienced and credentialed, have not spent much time at your facility yet, and are expected to adhere to your quality standards. While HCTN strives to provide only the most qualified and exceptional travel nurses, the unfortunate reality is that not every candidate is a good fit.  One of the many goals of HCTN’s Clinical Team is to provide the right fit the first time so patients can receive the best possible care.

What is the HCTN Clinical Team?

The HCTN Clinical Team is a group of Health Carousel employees who maintain up-to-date RN certifications in a variety of specialties. Led by a Chief Nursing Officer with over 20 years of clinical experience, the team is made up of a Director of Nursing and four Quality Improvement Nurses.

As a client, you can expect our clinical team to ensure our nurses embody the definition of high standards. This is demonstrated in a variety of ways, but most notably:

  • Partner with nurse managers and HR representatives to proactively resolve incidents – we assess error reports and intervene at-risk employees
  • Check nurse credentials to clear backgrounds – we take a deep dive on anything pulled from a background check and approve via our Quality Committee (CNO and legal team)
  • Offer Prophecy remediation if a test is failed – we personally assess struggle areas, assign learning modules, and recommend test-taking hints
  • Create unique programs for clients as needed – we partner with you to address any special circumstances

Partnering in these ways with clients and nurses has led to lower termination rates than market average (HCTN  ≈ 8%; competitors ≈ 20%1). Most importantly, the team becomes familiar with your most intricate needs, which ensures our nurses are properly prepared to join your organization.

Internal professional development is also one of the core objectives of our clinical team. They host monthly learning sessions for our recruitment, account management, and support staff so they can stay informed and educated about nursing. This gives you confidence that our staff is well-positioned to make proficient judgement calls on the nurses we present.

What we’re most proud of is our partnership with the DAISY Foundation and our privilege of awarding travel nurses with the DAISY award.  This award is typically reserved for permanent staff nurses and rarely given out to travelers. We recognize those who make a lasting impression on patients or their families and reward these extraordinary nurses as often as we can.
